Craig Baltimore Named 46th Fellow of TMS

Dr. Craig Baltimore has been elected the 46th Fellow Member of The Masonry Society, recognizing his 27 years of service advancing masonry education, research, and standards development.

Dr. Craig Baltimore has been a member of TMS for 27 years, advancing masonry education, research, and standards development.  A licensed professional and structural engineer in California, he has combined practice with academia throughout his career while serving as a professor of architectural engineering at California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo.  He has authored more than 30 papers and reports, developed hands-on laboratory courses, and secured a United States patent for self-consolidating grout.

Within TMS, Craig has served multiple terms on the Board of Directors, two terms on the Technical Activities Committee, and as Chair of the Standards Development Committee where he helped finalize the High Winds Standards.  He has also chaired task groups on masonry curtain walls, contributed to the sustainability and design practices committees, and hosted the 2012 University Professors Masonry Workshop at Cal Poly.  His contributions extend to the Masonry Designers Guide and consistent peer review for the TMS Journal.

One of his nominators wrote:  

“Craig has always been a bridge between academia and practice. He brings research into the classroom in ways that inspire students, while at the same time translating real world engineering challenges into TMS committee work.  His passion for advancing masonry education has strengthened both the Society and the profession.”

Craig Baltimore will be formally recognized as a Fellow Member of The Masonry Society during the Awards Luncheon at the TMS Annual Meeting in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on October 16, 2025.  He becomes the 46th Fellow of TMS, joining a distinguished group of individuals who have been awarded this honor.
