TMS Recognizes Heather Sustersic with 2025 President’s Award

Heather Sustersic, P.E., was selected as the recipient of the 2025 President’s Award in recognition of her outstanding leadership and sustained contributions to the advancement of masonry design, research, and standards development. TMS President David McLean presented the award to Heather at The Masonry Society’s Annual Meeting on October 16, 2025 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Heather is a practicing structural engineer with Colby Company Engineering in Portland, Maine, where she brings over 15 years of experience in the design of new buildings, complex renovations, sculptures, and specialty engineering projects, as well as performing condition assessments of existing building structures for both commercial and federal clients.
Within TMS, Heather is an invaluable contributor to standards development. She serves on the Board of Directors, chairs the Reinforcement and Connectors Subcommittee to TMS 402/602, and is a voting member of the TMS 402/602 Main Committee, the Structural Members Subcommittee, the TMS 402/602 Executive Committee, the Existing Masonry Committee, and the Meetings Committee. In 2024, she further strengthened TMS’s efforts to support historic and existing structures by founding and chairing the Existing Masonry Standards Committee (EMSC).
Through her technical contributions, collaborative spirit, and dedication to the masonry community, Heather Sustersic exemplifies the qualities this award was created to honor.
